This is an awesome sighting in Sydney! This species looks like it sits half way between a shark and a ray, like evolution forgot what it was doing. They are regularly sighted in Sydney at various sites, particularly in the summer months. After years of diving I never get bored of this incredible ray species. While its range extends slightly beyond the state borders, this ray remains predominantly concentrated within New South Wales, Australia.
