Clovelly is a great place to head if you fancy a nice swim in a protected area. Its a natural ocean pool, and the rocks around the edge have been covered in concrete to make it comfortable to walk or sit on. Entry and exit into the ocean pool is via stairs with a handrail, which makes it very easy for divers of all shapes, sizes and experience levels.
You can snorkel here in almost all conditions, but the only time I would suggest scuba diving here is at night when it provides a nice and calm environment. The council restricts scuba divers at Clovelly Pool in the summer, so to dive here it is best to do it in the evenings between April and September. There is a lot of marine life in the pool, including THE most friendly blue groper! It is common to see wobbegong sharks and stingrays and of course at night you might see octopus, cuttlefish and squid come out to play. |
