Clifton Gardens

Clifton Gardens is one of the best dive sites in Sydney with a well established marine environment with many species to discover. There are many ways to explore this site, from wrecks, to the piers, to diving over the sandy bottom. It is also a great location for a picnic after diving too.

There are lots of nudibranchs, octopus, cuttlefish, and crustaceans at this site and we have been lucky enough to spot the Giant Snake Eel here too. A great site, well protected from the waves. Night dives here are fantastic This page includes photos of some of the marine life that I have spotted at this dive site.

This site is best suited to advanced open water divers with a good control of their bouyancy. Divers without control of their bouyancy can easily kick up all the sand and make it difficult for others and can also find it challenging to dive between the piers without damaging the marine environment or becoming entangled in fishing line.

If you come diving and venture outside of the pier, for example towards the wrecks or over the sandy bottom, be prepared to use a deployable safety device / SMB / flag to ensure people know you are there and ascend close to the line making sure no boats are overhead. It the navy are in the area it is best not to dive at all.

It is recommended that divers come here through organised guided shore dives from Dive Centre Bondi.
