Smooth Stingray / Bullray (Bathytoshia brevicaudata)

This ray goes by many names, probably because it is found around the world. It is known as the smooth stingray, short-tail stingray and bull ray. Whatever you call it, this is such an impressive ray to find in Sydney! They are one of the largest stingrays in the world and are regularly seen almost 2m from side to side and are said to grow much bigger. Some individuals become well-known within local diving communities through frequent sightings.
