Sarah Han-de-Beaux
For 18 years, I’ve built a career I love in the world of corporate procurement. I thrive on the complexity of the work, the strategy of a good negotiation, and the professional relationships I’ve built over nearly two decades. But while my weekdays were spent in the boardroom, my heart—and my spare time—have always belonged to the ocean.
I’ve spent nearly twenty years balancing that professional life with a deep commitment to marine conservation. Whether I was building the Sydney Dives community, serving as Secretary for the Underwater Research Group (NSW), or driving the Spot a Shark initiative, these projects were where I found my greatest inspiration. I loved the challenge of both worlds, but I eventually realized I was stretching myself thin and began to wonder: What could I achieve if I gave my core passion my full attention? I recently had an opportunity to take a pause from the corporate world to dedicate myself entirely to shark conservation. They say that if you find something you truly love, you’ll never "work" a day in your life—and after spending weeks on end in the field and feeling more energized than ever, I know that’s true. This transition has allowed me to finally complete my Dive Instructor training and focus on turning years of research into results. I’m now spending my time in the water and behind the camera. Whether I’m teaching a new diver, collaborating on a documentary, or contributing to research, I’m driven by the same goal: protecting our oceans and the incredible species that call them home. If you want to collaborate with me, learn more about my research, or come dive with me, please reach out. I can’t wait to connect. |
